Ange arrives home to find her husband has died suddenly. Income now slashed, her plans to move to a more upmarket home and invest in a portfolio of rental properties is frustrated. But she is relentlessly ambitious, ousting stepson Jack from his bedroom to make way for bed-and-breakfast guests and she begins selling possessions including a rare vintage motorcycle bequeathed to Jack by his deceased father.
Grieving and detached, Jack retreats to a favourite video game which gives him an idea for a business start-up. Picking up on this, is schoolfriend and technology buff, Ella. But, Jack becomes at-risk as the conflict with his stepmother deepens.
Family friend Brooke helps Jack recover from his despair. Fired with confidence, Jack tricks Ange over the sale of his motorcycle. Now cashed up, Jack and Ella launch their business Green Angels delivering herbs direct from growers to restaurants, utilising load-carrying drones, guided by GPS and QR codes. It’s an instant success. But disastrous cashflow brings business to a halt. At the same time the bank forces on Ange a mortgagee sale.
Both are forlorn. Jack is remorseful for tricking Ange over the sale of the motorcycle, Ange realises that her drive for personal wealth and status was misguided. She now diverts her energies to helping Jack turn around insolvent Green Angels. But along comes a legal challenge to the use of drones. This throws into uncertainty the prospect of a return to an ordinary life for them both.
